Description

The textile item is inspired by the historical era of the Baroque period, the contemporary designer Schiaparelli and the critically acclaimed film Snow white and the Huntsman. Aesthetically, the garment embodies the costume focus area through an intentional use of creative and innovative techniques in accordance with my inspirations. Key decorative elements include a layered theatrical skirt, inverted pleating, and intricate hand embroidery, patchwork, and couching. These embellishments are deep rooted in the opulent grandeur of the 18th-century Baroque era, emphasising ornate details. Innovative features, such as skeletal pleating, laser cut applique and digital printing, strike a balance between modernity and tradition. The use of these techniques highlights the garment's prioritisation of aesthetic appeal over practicality. Its dramatic visual impact align seamlessly with the essence of the costume focus area, making this design a clear example of a costume garment.
