Description

This three-piece ensemble is designed for evening wear and formal event attire. It draws heavily on 1940s to 1950s fashion, particularly Christian Dior's 1947 New Look silhouette, with its emphasis on feminine elegance. This classic foundation is contrasted by a bold, manipulated red skirt, introducing a striking contemporary edge to the set. The organza blouse references multiple historical and cinematic sources. Its wide cuffs and collar are inspired by Grace Kelly's gown in High Society (1956); Audrey Hepburn's dress in Roman Holiday (1953); Hubert de Givenchy's 1952 organdy blouse designs; Medieval bishop sleeves. The corset was kept simple and constructed from silk dupion to provide structure and support, balancing the fluidity of the organza blouse. The most significant aspect of the skirt's design is its fabric manipulation, constructed into floral motifs. A single hand-sewn pearl is stitched through the centre of each flower, directly referencing Italian Renaissance and Elizabethan pearl placement.
