The textile item, Garden Wall Hanging, depicting a garden transitioning from being luscious and thriving, to dead and barren by drawing on inspiration of bees, and their vital importance in pollinating garden and crops. The inspiration of bees is reflected in the honeycomb pattern presented throughout, and the inclusion of crochet bees themselves. The honeycomb and bees dwindle in their numbers towards the brown section to reflect that the bees are dying alongside the garden. This is done in conjunction with the changing colour scheme, which moves from deep greens with yellow and red accents to a fully brown and beige section, illustrating the relationship between bees and gardens. The item has been constructed using a large variety of crochet flowers, including roses, lilies, corncockles, baby's breath, and daisies. These were made using different yarn types, including acrylic, polyester, cotton, and wool. The garden also includes a variety of different leaves constructed from both macrame and crochet. The macrame leaves are constructed out of a cotton macrame cord, some of which has been dyed to achieve the natural colour. The item also includes vines made from trench knitting, a honeycomb pattern made from needle felting, and pom-poms in a variety of colours and sizes. The item also uses latch-hooking and tassels to create an overgrown, shrubby look. The latch-hooking uses a variety of scrap yarns, and the tassels are made from shoelaces.
