Description

The textile item is a ball gown inspired by the traditional white wedding dress. Based on a Victorian silhouette, a wave smocked bodice with appliqued organza flowers The ball gown incorporates innovative design elements, unique shapes and the creative use of materials, through the smocking of the bodice and the organza flowers. While a ball gown may be elaborate and luxurious it is designed to be worn for formal events, such as balls or galas. It serves a functional purpose by providing the wearer with elegant and sophisticated attire suitable for special occasions. The design showcases creativity by offering a modern play on the traditional white wedding dress using the contrasting colour pink. The dress has appliqued small organza flowers that are painted with pink dye. The pannier is made from an opal pink deluxe satin. At the back of the overskirt is a big pink satin bow.
