The textile item, Parramatta Cycles, has a quilted top, cotton backing and polyester wadding. The layers are secured with binding. The front design abstractly depicts riding by the Parramatta River by representing different aspects of the experience. A patchwork cityscape of Parramatta and a colonial building with appliqued windows. The cityscape is connected to the river with applique depicting five eels, with hand embroidered faces. Stitched to the river is the path which is made with the same wavy patchwork in tones of beige. The path is split into two sections: a long vertical one coming from the top and a small horizontally curved one at the base of the river. Between the two sections there is a small wheel with a beige backing, wire spokes and a narrow piping tire. At the top of the front, overlapping the path and river, there is a second, slightly larger wheel, with a blue backing, wire spokes and an embroidered piping tire. The top left corner features a knitted strip that resembles a helmet strap. The base of the knitting is stitched to the grass section and four slide-release buckles. that are connected to four roots created by yarn wrapping, which also have roots from wrapping thread are connected to them. The base of the grass section is made from machine felting wool onto quilting cotton.
