The textile item is a pair of denim jeans, chaps, and vest. Inspiration is from; Rodeo chaps, Livestock branding, West¬ern clothing style, and the cross symbol. The collection included a vest made of cordu¬roy pile weave lined with a diamante dobby weave, designer jeans, made from twill weave rigid denim (100% cotton)/pock¬ets lined with homespun plain weave, and the chaps are made from a non-woven vinyl film pleather/lined with a faux suede. Livestock branding inspired the student through its way of taking a symbol which represents a part of your life and wearing it as a reflection of your self-identity. This is seen through the cut-out crosses, and straight-stitch applique crosses placed repeatedly across the jeans of the MTP. Throughout history, Christianity has symbolized its faith with the cross symbol, it can be expressed through art, stained glass, or body-worn symbols, notably catholic rosary beads which have a cross pendant that reflects personal identity and faith. The cross symbol serves as a compelling inspiration for the MTP due to its faith meaning and the re-interpretations of it used in modern fashion. Religious resonation is something that a person wears or strives to reflect, this makes it a suitable inspiration as apparel clothing is used to convey one’s interest, and beliefs.
