Titiana

Brigidine College St Ives

Rose Wood

"A theatre costume for Titania, Queen of the Fairies from Shakespeare’s 'A Midsummer Night’s Dream', this gown was inspired by Ancient Greek fashion."

Images of Work

"Knife pleating involves gathering and folding fabric to produce fluid, vertical lines in the gown which accentuate height and direction. Thus, a regular rhythm of organised movement is created, prompting the viewer’s eye around the design. The pleating compliments the silk fabric beautifully, expressing ethereal and graceful characteristics to suit Titania’s character."

"I incorporated machine embroidery techniques to create the delicate gold leaves, representing the enchanted forest setting and which glimmering under the theatre lights while onstage. Using a water-soluble stabiliser, she free-motion embroidered with a gold thread to build an interesting texture for the leaves which are further enhanced with gold beads for an opulent aesthetic."

Select Student Folio Pages

The pages selected for each project reflect the individual students' interpretations of the syllabus guidelines for the MTP. Each student should develop their folio according to the guidelines, relating to their own individual project. This may result in a variety of presentation styles, numbers of sketches and/or experiments.
