St Mary Star of the Sea College Hurstville

Chelsey Wilson

"A textile art wall-hanging using a variety of crochet techniques, yarn textures and colours to reflect the coral structures of the Great Barrier Reef."

Images of Work

"I used a range of crochet techniques to create an organic recreation of bleached coral, similar to that of the Great Barrier Reef. I believe this wide variety of stitches allowed me to enhance the realism of the reef and successfully bring awareness to the theme of my Major Textiles Project."

"The variety of crochet techniques, along with the choice of yarn, textures and colours highlights my project to reflect the every changing health of the Great Barrier Reef; the main inspiration of my Major Textiles Project. The combination of these techniques created an authentic though an abstract interpretation of coral bleaching."

Select Student Folio Pages

The pages selected for each project reflect the individual students' interpretations of the syllabus guidelines for the MTP. Each student should develop their folio according to the guidelines, relating to their own individual project. This may result in a variety of presentation styles, numbers of sketches and/or experiments.
