Red Carpet Suit

Marist Sisters' College Woolwich

Jane Linetsky

"'Red Carpet Suit' is a two-piece suit garment primarily inspired by Memphis Milano, a design group that specialised in bright, postmodern furniture. Hand printing, 2D and 3D applique techniques were used to replicate the colourful geometry of the Memphis Milano designs."

Images of Work

"To create the custom netting pattern, I utilised a hand printing technique. This method allowed me to paint freely using black printing paste and a brush, resulting in precise rectangular shapes. Thus, I was able to successfully replicate the iconic black and white patterning as seen in Memphis Milano designs."

"To replicate the colourful geometry of the Memphis Milano designs, I have utilised 2D and 3D appliqué. The appliqué can be seen distributed in various shapes and colours across the entirety of my Major Textiles Project. Intended to contrast and stand out, the appliqué contributes to the unique and distinctive features the garment presents."

Select Student Folio Pages

The pages selected for each project reflect the individual students' interpretations of the syllabus guidelines for the MTP. Each student should develop their folio according to the guidelines, relating to their own individual project. This may result in a variety of presentation styles, numbers of sketches and/or experiments.
