"This textile art wall-hanging utilises a kimono as a medium for showcasing the rich cultural heritage and beauty of Japan. Inspirations included the natural world, traditional creative textile techniques and designer Akira Isogawa."

"Hand stitching was the technique used to appliqué shapes onto the kimono to ensure the stitching is not visible. Small, fine hand stitches securely attach the lining to the kimono, and also used in the overall construction, to successfully piece the kimono together."

"Sashiko embroidery was stitched using white threads developing striking contrast on the dark blue background. The different lines and direction of the stitches also created rhythm and texture, increasing the kimono's high aesthetic appeal."
