Femme Noir

Kirrawee High School

Demi Marie Colburt

"Highly embellished, this apparel set is inspired by Princess Diana’s Revenge Dress and 19th century corsetry. It features a sweetheart neckline, boning and lace-up closure."

Images of Work

"The manufacturing technique using soluble web fabric (Solvy) contributed to the success of Femme Noir. Stitching recycled fabric offcuts on soluble web fabric, creates a unique material. This ‘Solvy’ fabric was used to create flowers seen on the tulle overskirt adding a sense of originality, drama and texture to my Major Textiles Project."

" Hand beading indefinitely contributed to the success of ‘Femme Noir’. Hand beading individual seed beads are featured along the panels of the corset and throughout the flowers on the tulle overskirt. Using this surface technique was extremely time consuming, however added interest with a sense of depth and texture to my design."

Select Student Folio Pages

The pages selected for each project reflect the individual students' interpretations of the syllabus guidelines for the MTP. Each student should develop their folio according to the guidelines, relating to their own individual project. This may result in a variety of presentation styles, numbers of sketches and/or experiments.
