Enchanted gown

"My Major Textiles Project, titled Enchanted Gown, is an apparel garment in the form of a haute couture wedding dress. Designer Alon Livne’s Spring - Summer 2020 bridal collection “Reverie”, the French word for daydream, inspires the shape and embellishment featured on the gown."

Images of Work

"To construct key areas of the gown I used the manufacturing technique of French seams. These were used to construct the sheer corset bodice, the inner layer of organza and outer layer of georgette on the gown. On the bodice, this technique allowed the construction of a sheer bodice to be possible, while ensuring neatness."

"The floral lace and beading embellishment was created by deconstructing three different lace fabrics and repositioning individual pieces to create a new fabric to form my unique floral design. The crystal and pearl beading adds a sense of luxury and was used to highlight key lace features and add more detail. The new floral lace and beaded pieces were hand appliquéd onto the gown using invisible thread."

Select Student Folio Pages

The pages selected for each project reflect the individual students' interpretations of the syllabus guidelines for the MTP. Each student should develop their folio according to the guidelines, relating to their own individual project. This may result in a variety of presentation styles, numbers of sketches and/or experiments.
