"The upper front bands of fabric extend diagonally across the chest then over the shoulders to the back. The lower front bands pass under the arms where darts are placed under and around the bust area for shaping. They are then clasped in the centre back with a hook and eye element and have vertical straps which are a combination of fabric and bead combinations."
"As a decorative technique, beads are organised into a sequence of two sizes of pearls and small red beads. The small red bead links the red fabric and exaggerates the backless piece. The placement of different sized beads produces a waterfall effect. Similar to traditional Indian sarees, the beading on the skirt is intricate and detailed. The hand-sewn individual beads are what bring the design to life, thus allowing the embellishments to provide a deeper cultural meaning."
Select Student Folio Pages
The pages selected for each project reflect the individual students' interpretations of the syllabus guidelines for the MTP. Each student should develop their folio according to the guidelines, relating to their own individual project. This may result in a variety of presentation styles, numbers of sketches and/or experiments.
