Holocaust Survivor - Henryka Shaw

MacKillop College Port Macquarie

Ella Page

"A subjective view on humankind's capability of survival; exploring the personalized story of five-time Holocaust concentration camp survivor Henyrka Shaw inspired me to design and make a 1940’s inspired dress."

Images of Work

"Printing has been incorporated through the use of digital printing; displaying images key to the story. These images have been applied using the technique of English paper piecing; the geometric shapes contrasting with the free-flowing skirt."

"In constructing a narrative, textile poetry has been embroidered down the dress, layered on top of themed coloured and textured fabrics. Additionally on the “name badge,” free-motion embroidery is applied to block out an image below."

Select Student Folio Pages

The pages selected for each project reflect the individual students' interpretations of the syllabus guidelines for the MTP. Each student should develop their folio according to the guidelines, relating to their own individual project. This may result in a variety of presentation styles, numbers of sketches and/or experiments.
