Description

Persian culture was the inspiration for this project which demonstrates advanced fabric decoration skills, incorporating embroidery on the back of the jacket, and the block print design on the pants. The brand ‘Delpozo’ inspired the dense hand embroidery and selection of the creative and contemporary colour scheme incorporated with the bright contrasting colours of orange and blue. A paisley design has been created which innovatively incorporates shisha mirrors. The pants were inspired and influenced by Grace Kelly and Audrey Hepburn. The overall construction of the jacket has been successfully derived from 1960’s and women’s suiting.

"Block printing of the paisley design as a ‘trail’ up the side of the pants was to mimic the design of the lining fabric utilised for both the jacket and the inner pockets. It also served as a visual colour link between the jacket, pant and lining fabrics."

"Hand embroidery was used to create a large mandala design on the back of the jacket, which is the centrepiece of the project. It complements the inspiration, particularly Persian art, through the application of a variety of stitches and colours."
