Three-piece Christening Collection

Wagga Wagga High School

Alannah Brett

"My Major Textiles Project is a three piece contemporary celebration collection, consisting of a gown, bloomers and headband, each being inspired by an overall contemporary theme featuring heirloom techniques including dainty bullion roses, heirloom holes, pintucks and self-crafted lace insertion."

Images of Work

"I created an original lace by using tulle as a base, supported by a soluble web, and embellished with floral machine embroidery. The soft pink colour of the lace complements the feminine colour palette and creates a contrasting visual texture in the gown."

"Heirloom embroidery utilising dainty Bullion Roses, French Knots and Lazy Daisy stitches creates visual texture and adds dimension and emphasis to the asymmetrical design of embroidered flowers on the bodice."

Select Student Folio Pages

The pages selected for each project reflect the individual students' interpretations of the syllabus guidelines for the MTP. Each student should develop their folio according to the guidelines, relating to their own individual project. This may result in a variety of presentation styles, numbers of sketches and/or experiments.
