The Impressionist's Garden

International Grammar School

Ashley Ruben

"My Major Textiles Project was inspired by the fashion designers Georges Chakra and Marchesa; also with inspiration from the flora of Centennial Parklands, featuring flowers on the sheer overskirt and gold beaded leaves on the centre front panel, with my colour palette inspired by Claude Monet's artworks."

Images of Work

"The silk organza flowers on the sheer overskirt of the dress were brought to life through the manufacturing technique of the laser cutter. The laser cutter allowed me to precisely cut each individual flower in a time efficient manner while being neat and consistent."

"The surface decoration of beading on the centre front panel of the dress used gold bugle beads which were sewn into the shape of a Montezuma Cypress leaf using nylon invisible thread."

Select Student Folio Pages

The pages selected for each project reflect the individual students' interpretations of the syllabus guidelines for the MTP. Each student should develop their folio according to the guidelines, relating to their own individual project. This may result in a variety of presentation styles, numbers of sketches and/or experiments.
