"My Major Textiles Project consists of a Haute Couture gown and an upper garment called the Jeogori. My inspiration celebrates traditional Korean clothing (hanbok)."

Images of Work

"I have contemporised the traditional Jeogori by utilising organza as the main material. French seams have been used to construct this item, with contemporary closures (press studs) sewn behind the sequin and beaded embroidery on the collar in order to not disturb the aesthetics of the garment."

"I have surrounded the skirt with over 200 Mugunghwa shaped fabric flowers, the Korean national flower and an important symbol of Korean culture. The centres of the fabric flowers have been embroidered with sequins and beads to mimic the pollen. Due to Covid, the flowers were hand-cut, but they could also be produced using a laser cutter."

Select Student Folio Pages

The pages selected for each project reflect the individual students' interpretations of the syllabus guidelines for the MTP. Each student should develop their folio according to the guidelines, relating to their own individual project. This may result in a variety of presentation styles, numbers of sketches and/or experiments.
